About LLM scenario planner

The LLM Scenario Planner turns rough product traffic assumptions — how many active users you have, how many LLM-backed requests each user triggers per day, and how many input/output tokens a typical request uses — into a twelve-month cost projection for a single reference model from our pricing table. It is intentionally simpler than a full finance model: it assumes flat traffic (no month-over-month growth), ignores prompt caching and reasoning surcharges, and does not model batch or commitment discounts. Use it to sanity-check orders of magnitude before you paste the same assumptions into a spreadsheet or BI tool.

Key Features

  • User count, requests per user per day, and average input/output tokens per request
  • Configurable average days per month (default 30)
  • Reference model picker backed by llm-pricing.json
  • Volume stress multipliers ×1, ×2, and ×5 on effective monthly requests
  • Month-by-month table with per-month and cumulative spend
  • Fuchsia planner chrome aligned with other AI utilities

Use Cases

  • Pitch decks: show an investor a defensible “worst case ×5 traffic” API line item
  • Capacity planning when onboarding a cohort of beta users
  • Teaching PMs how token math scales with daily active usage

Pro Tips

  • If your product has power users and casual users, run two scenarios and average — this tool uses a single population.
  • Pair with the AI Token Counter once you have real prompts to replace token guesses.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is there only one model selected?

To keep the table readable and the mental model obvious. Export numbers to a sheet if you need multi-model blends; the model comparison and cost calculator cover cross-vendor views.

Does this include tax or enterprise discounts?

No. It uses public list-style $/M numbers from our dataset. Enterprise contracts, committed use, and tax are outside the scope of this planner.
